A Message From Kathy.
Dear Reader,
I have been in the Early Care and Education field for over 35 years, ten of them as a classroom teacher, eight years as a Center Director, and for five years as the Infant Toddler Specialist at the Child Care Council of Nassau, NY where I provided on-site training and technical assistance to child care programs in Nassau County, and most recently ten years as the Associate Director at The Alice Brown Early Learning Center at Adelphi University. I have an Associates in Infants and Toddlers, a Bachelors in Early Childhood and a Masters in Educational Theater with a focus on children 5 and under.
I was a regular contributor to Newsday’s Parent and Children Magazine with articles pertaining to Infant Toddler Care and Development. I have just recently moved to sunny California and am now teaching a Sensory class to moms and their children, where we “get messy” while I share information on the value of play, child development and looking for the right fit for childcare for your family.
This site is another labor of love that I hope you find helpful.
My purpose in creating AllAboutChildCare.INFO was to assist parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and just about anyone looking for child care for their infants, toddlers and preschoolers. I hope to show you where to look, how to look and to give you the proper links to all the resources you need no matter where you live. So although I’m now based in California, the background perspectives I share are universal and should make you better prepared for what lies ahead. In addition, I’ll give you a loud voice for airing all your concerns. And somewhere along the way, I hope you’ll find it entertaining as well. Kathy. You can always write to me at allaboutchildcare.info@gmail.com
Here are some added
features you might enjoy.
Child Care Tips: I’ve learned a couple of things along the way about infant, toddler and preschooler behaviors and would like to share as many of them with you as I can. It could prove extremely helpful to know what to do when your child is acting out in ways you’ve never experienced before. You’ll find one on every article marked with this logo ★ CHILD CARE Tips.
Surfing the net for the most valuable resources: There are plenty of places you can go for answers to questions about everything from checking out the legal status of the child care facility you’d like to use to constructive answers on a myriad of concerns affecting the quality and timing of your child care choices. I’ve tried to link you to relevant sites as they apply to the article you are reading at the time. I’ve also downloaded related information and posted it right here to save you the time of going there on your own. In other cases where you might want to surf the net at your leisure, you can click on the link here to my resource center or in the article page listings to the left to view a list of all agencies that serve the child care category. In any event, I’ll try to provide a portal to everything you need to know to make your child care choices less stressful and certainly a whole lot more enjoyable.
I need your input: There’s a lot of thought and research that goes into this site, and for me it’s a tremendous undertaking. I’m just getting my feet wet on this. If you have suggestions on additional features or how to better the ones I have, I’d love to hear about it. If you come up with questions about topics I haven’t covered yet, please don’t hesitate to ask. Today’s families need all the help they can get in finding child care providers that deliver first rate services to them and their children. I’d like to be the one to help you find them. Go to allaboutchildcare.info@gmail.com and send them in before you forget.
Another thing: Attention Moms, Dads, and...!
It’s no surprise to anyone who knows me that I love kids; that’s why every page of this site has pictures of them in every stage of their lives. If you want to share your precious moments with the world, I’d love to show them here at AllAboutChildCare.INFO, with or without attribution. That’s your choice. Send them in. Depending upon the volume of photos I receive and the amount of space I have remaining will dictate how long I keep them posted. At any rate, I’m dying to see what your little ones look like and those never-to-be-forgotten moments in his or her life. Let’s share. Go to allaboutchildcare.info@gmail.com and send them in before you forget.
Finally, there's this:
Whenever or wherever you see this sitting on a page, it means there's something waiting for you in the form of holiday book recommendations from me, or maybe a script for fun finger play for the kids that you can involve the whole family in. I used to love discovering these kinds of things when I was looking for ways to entertain my little ones, so I feel like I should pay this forward to you with suggestions of my own. I don't want to tell you what I'm planning, that kind of spoils the surprise, but I will say one of my downloads will include a recipe for making play-dough for a lot of tabletop fun indoors and out.
